HERDING®-sinter plate filter for surface filtration grant clean gas values of < 1 mg/m³, even with dusts of D50 < 1µm. The matrix consists of sintered polyethylene PE. An additional PTFE-coating gets into the pores of the PE-basic body and forms a micro-porous, non-sticking. This combined material is most extensively chemical resistant. The HERDING®-sinter plate filters are extremely stable in structure, rigid, water resistant and only need low-maintenance. The average useful life of a Herding ® filter can even exceed 10 years.
HERDING® sinter plate filters show a very high efficiency of separation and environmental compatibility. The filters can be recycled without any problems, no toxic waste has to be disposed off.
By using these filter elements in HERDING® HSL-units there is an optimum combination of positive attributes like: compactness, optimum flow behavior, ideal dust emission and an extensive operational safety, resulting from the rigidity of the matrix and of no wear and tear against abrasive media. At regular intervals or at pre-determined differential pressure the filter elements are cleaned on-line by a jet-pulse.
The filter elements are fixed only by a single screw – which makes maintenance easy and saves times. On request antistatic or even special design, e.g. for using cooling lubricants or aerosoles are possible. HERDING®-DELTA-filter are future-oriented; already today they meet what tomorrow’s environment and legislation will require. So in fact the separation efficiency shows a much better value than required by the BIA-certificate, regarding dust classification M.

Like the patented HERDING® sinter-plate filter the matrix consists of sintered polyethylene PE. An additional PTFE-coating gets into the pores of the PE-basic body and forms a micro-porous, non-sticking. This combined material is most extensively chemical resistant.
Both the material and the specially developed lamella, changed to the delta-shaped extended–surface pattern make the filter element very stable and rigid, combined with the possibility of an optimum cleaning of the horizontal elements, installed from the side.
By using these filter elements in HERDING® DELTA resp. DELTASys-units there is an optimum combination of positive attributes like: compactness, optimum flow behavior, ideal dust emission and an extensive operational safety, resulting from the rigidity of the matrix and of no wear and tear against abrasive media. At regular intervals or at pre-determined differential pressure the filter elements are cleaned on-line by a jet-pulse.

HERDING® filter units, type HSL consist of three components bolted together:
The top-section consists of an acoustic hood with a radial fan. An inspection door allows at any time an easy access to the fan for maintenance and check-ups. The cleaned air is either recirculated or discharged to the atmosphere.
The center-section is subdivided into a clean air space and a raw gas space by a specially developed slotted plate. The clean gas space accomodates the complete cleaning system with the compressed air-tank, the quick opening and safety valve as well as the blow pipes. In the raw gas space our patented HERDING® sinter plate filter are installed, granting clean gas value of <1mg/Nm².
The bottom-section consists of a support structure, customized and equipped with various discharge devices.

SAMPLE APPLICATIONS OF THE NEW DELTAComp-SERIES
Laser Applications:
Laser machining usually generates extremely fine dusts and fumes during the cutting and welding process. On the one hand this can cause health hazards and on the other hand contaminate and damage the machine, the aggregates as well as the processed material. Furthermore some dusts can be even highly inflamed and/or sticky. For this application, we recommend a DELTAComp, which is equipped with a spark separator and a Herding® pulse coater.
Spring and Wire Industry:
During the production of springs or wires an optimum dust capturing as well as a constant cooling of the tools are the key factors to maintain a constant product quality. The high separation efficiency of the filter elements is equally important like maintaining the required air flow by holding constant pressure drop values across the filter elements.
Coating of Tablets or Seeds:
During the coating process of tablets or seeds an exact defined air volume is constantly exhausted from the coating-process. This is necessary in order neither to let hazardous material into the workshop nor to loose any product. A constant air flow is decisive for high product quality (e.g. coating thickness).
Polishing of Steel:
While polishing steel e.g. fittings and mountings, not only the fine dust arises but also flammable material. Polishing paste which is very sticky may even be mixed with the extracted dust. For this application the DELTAComp can be equipped with our pulse coater as well as with a fire protection system.
More applications for the DELTAComp are to be found in several industries like:
Pharmaceutical, Food, Glass, Ceramics, Plastics, Stone, Powder Coating, Chemical, Metal Processing etc.v

Herding® DELTAFlex
|
|
The new and compact DELTAFlex design enables the end user and the operating company flexibility with a small foot print, particularly when large air flows are of concern.
The filter elements are mounted vertically and depending on the application, the filter unit will be equipped with DELTA- or DELTA²-filter elements.
The safety concept and the unit design following the ATEX-safety regulations will follow your needs.
With this newly developed filter unit series by Herding, the idea of a compact and flexible design was conseuently converted into reality. The modular version of DELTAFlex can handle air flows of up to 400,000 m3/h. The DELTA- and DELTA²-filter elements are vertically installed into the DELTAFlex housing. Depending on the requirements and the filter unit design, the filter elements can be arranged in a single row, in two rows or even up to three rows.
|
|
|
|
|
APPLICATIONS – The new DELTAFlex-Series
The DELTAFlex filter units are suitable for the separation and / or product recovery of fine, adhesive or even abrasive dusts.
Powder Coating:
Constant air flow and laminar air flow are of significance for optimal and efficient results during electro-static powder coating. With the Herding® DELTA- or DELTA²-filter element a contamination free product recovery of overspray is given as contaminating of the powder through the use of the Herding® filter element is excluded.
Steel Pipe Production:
The production of seamless steel pipes demands maximum up-time of the whole manufacturing process including also the filtration system. It is to be assured during the forming, rolling and gauging of the pipes that the extraction of the steam, metal oxides and graphite is continuous and steady as these contaminants may adversely affect the pipe surface quality.
Extraction of Welding Fumes:
When extracting welding fumes, produced by partly oily or greasy sheet metal, the capturing method and an effective filtration are significant since most times the clean gas is returned to the work area.
Depending on the state or quality of the sheet metal a pre-coating material may be necessary, which is applied as a filter aid onto the Herding® rigid body filter element DELTA or DELTA² by means of the Herding® MultiCoater.
Toner Dusts:
During the production and aspiration of toner powder for color cartridges the filter unit has to be carefully selected with regarding the ATEX-regulations and other safety aspects (classification of -zones). Should an explosion hazard be of concern, the DELTAFlex unit can be equipped with a horizontally or vertically installed rupture disk. Furthermore an explosion discharge duct can be optionally added to vent the pressure of a possible explosion away from the filter unit into a low risk area.
As an alternative to the rupture disk, the unit may be equipped with an explosion suppression system which utilizes the injection of dry extinguishing powder.
More applications for the DELTAFlex are to be found in several industries like:
Automotive, Chemical, Pigments, Glass, Plastics, Food, Metal Processing, Pharmaceutical, Recycling, Stone, Cement, etc.

Herding® filter-modular system DELTASys
|
|
|
|
|
|
With the new DELTASys-system developed by HERDING the idea of a modular design has been consequently transferred. Those filter units show a filter area of 90 to 1125 m² and are designed for a volume flow of 4.000 to 135.000 m³/h. Complete units (with built-in fan) are available to up to 27.000 m³/h . The modular design such as blocks, rows and modules can easily adapt to the conditions at site. With limited floor space available the units can be built vertically, with limited height horizontally.
|
|
|
|
Dust removal – custom made
Due to its variability of the DELTASys-system the discharge equipment can be chosen, e.g. as a rotary air lock, dust bin or forklift support dust bin. Even removal of retrofitted components is possible due to standardized components and flanges.
More excellent characteristics of this design are the Herding-DELTA-filter elements, which can be installed horizontally from the clean gas side. The so called Down-flow-Principle is also used with the DELTASys-system.
|
|
Down-flow-principle
The down-flow-principle is based on the idea to direct the raw gas flow in the same direction as the dust removal. Thus the dust removal process is more efficient.

System Operation
The dirt laden liquid enters the system via gravity or transfer pump flowing into the receiving tank where The filtration process takes place. Located in the process tank are manifolds of Herding® Permanent Media Filter elements. The process Fluid is drawn through these patented sintered plastic elements, collecting the particles on the filter element surface. When the system vacuum switch reaches its set point, a back flushing cycle is initiated. A series of actuated valves along with a back flushing pump will clean each filter in series without interrupting the clean flow back to the machining Centres.
Filter Tank
The tankage is composed of two (2) sections. The Receiving tank contains the filter elements and drag out Conveyor system. The regeneration tank acts as the Reservoir from which clean Fluid is drawn during the Back flushing cycle.
